If you’re looking for outdoor activities in Chilliwack, the city’s reputation for fishing is undeniable. Though Chilliwack certainly does have prestigious reel estate, maybe you’re looking for something else.

Maybe you want to do an outdoor activity, but you also want to be able to lounge a bit. Maybe you don’t want to venture out of the city but you still want wide open expanses and scenic greenery. What can you do?

Golfing would be the perfect activity in this case that balances convenience and the outdoors. Fortunately, Chilliwack has a slew of golf courses within its perimeter. A round on the golf course would be a fantastic way to spend a day out with friends in the city while having enough space from others.

With an eye for the green, let’s tee up and explore a round of golfing with our essential guide to golf courses in Chilliwack.

Located in just about the centre of Chilliwack, Cheam Mountain Golf Course is easily accessible no matter where you live in the city. You can enjoy the scenery with a panorama of mountains as you play 18 holes of golf!

Cheam Mountain Golf Course has something for everyone. As a par 3 course, it can accommodate beginners. Low-handicap golfers will appreciate the engaging hole placements and par 4 holes that are up to 250 yards in length.

With a round lasting approximately 2.5 hours, you may even be able to sneak in a quick round after work! If the weather happens to be underwhelming, you can still take a few swings in the covered stalls of the driving range, which still features the grand mountains in the background.

Conveniently located within the city, Kinkora Golf Course is on the southside of Sardis just a short distance away from Promontory. Established in 1990, Kinkora was designed by Gordie McKay, who is notable for designing many golf courses throughout BC.

Kinkora Golf Course offers a pleasant 18 holes among trees and mountains. With wide fairways, this par 3 golf course is a welcome alternative to some of the more demanding golf courses in town.

Established in 1958, Chilliwack Golf Club is a member-owned golf course located in Greendale that features views of the Cascade Mountains, Coastal Mountains and Mount Cheam. As a semi-private club, members get priority access to the golf course.

With a full 18 holes, this par 72 golf course has a medium-plus length with 6535 yards for Gold Tees. With tree-lined fairways that test your skill without being punishing, it comes as no surprise that Chilliwack Golf Club is Fraser Valley’s most popular golf course.

To work on your game, Chilliwack Golf Club has a full-featured practice facility. Its driving range with oversized grass teeing area and target greens that extend past 300 yards is complemented by a 100 yard practice hole with greenside bunkers and chipping locations and a putting green. The practice facility is open to everybody and has a day pass for unlimited use throughout the day.

Chilliwack Golf Club hosted every major Provincial Championship in BC and won numerous awards, including Golf Facility of the Year in 2013 by PGA of BC and BC’s Best Golf Course in 2004 and 2005 by Pacific Golf Magazine. To join the ranks of the approximately 450 members, you can get started by joining the Pay-As-You-Go membership, which is available to new members only.

For more accessible golfing, Royalwood Golf and RV Resort is located just west of Chilliwack Golf Club. Established in 1990, this golf course was designed by Jim McIntyre, who designed many golf courses in Canada.

Situated alongside the Vedder Canal, Royalwood Golf and RV Resort offers views of the Coast Mountains to the north and Fraser Canyon and mountains to the northeast. This 18 hole par 72 golf course is home of the PGA of BC Playability Test every year and has first-rate putting surfaces.

Royalwood Golf and RV Resort is one the best courses in Chilliwack to train your golf game. Not only is the course affordable, but it also has a driving range with grass practice tee and flags placed every 50 yards down range to provide targets to aim, a chipping green with bunker and a putting green. You can even play free on your birthday week and kids play free too with any paid adult.

Unsurprisingly, Cultus Lake Golf Club is located by Cultus Lake. In fact, the golf course is walking distance from the beach. Established in 1990 and naturally situated within the forest, it offers mountain views in a greenland setting.

Cultus Lake Golf Club is an 18 hole par 63 executive golf course with a length that is over 4,000 yards. As an especially well-maintained course, it features narrow fairways that provide a nice challenge to seasoned golfers.

Cultus Lake Golf Club has a driving range with 19 covered and heated stalls with many range yardage markers and targets, a 100 yard practice hole with sand bunker and 2 practice putting greens that are open to the public. Uniquely, it has a Topranger Range that uses cameras and monitors to track your shots.

Established in 1924, Meadowlands Golf & Country Club is the most historic golf course in Chilliwack. Located alongside the Hope River slough on the east, the golf course rests on the east side of Little Mountain and offers stunning views of surrounding mountains.

With 18 holes, Meadowlands Golf & Country Club is a par 70 golf course with a newly created par 5 hole. With 92 acres of land, the golf course has medium-length holes on 5,613 yards of rolling fairways.

The many maple, cottonwood and fir trees provide an interesting challenge to the fairly wide fairways of Meadowlands Golf & Country Club. The large and mature trees also provide excellent shade during the warmer summer months.

Built in 1996, The Falls Golf Club is a relatively young golf course in Chilliwack. Reclining into the base of Mount Cheam, The Falls is one of the most remarkable courses in Chilliwack with views of the natural rock formations in addition to spectacular views of the Fraser Valley.

The Falls is a par 71 golf course with a length of 6,780 yards. If you enjoy variety, The Falls offers a range of experiences throughout its 18 holes, including changes of elevation of 750 feet that you won’t find anywhere else in town.

The golf course averages five sets of tees to accommodate players of all skill levels. One of its most notable holes is the fourth hole, which has nine different tees as well as an amazing 100-foot drop drop to the green. It’s no wonder that The Falls was named by the National Post as one of the “Top Ten Hidden Treasures in Canada”.
